Saemidori sencha is a cross between Yabukita and Asatsuyu cultivars; it has inherited the the balance of Yabukita, and the delicateness and color of Asatsuyu. Saemidori sencha is truly a unique Japanese green tea that is smoother and more flavorful than ordinary sencha, without sacrificing the body or brothiness of the liquor. This product is loose leaf tea, not tea bags. Loose Leafβs Advantage Over Tea Bags The differences between loose leaf tea and traditional tea bags are numerous, extending far beyond the surface. The leaves used in most tea bags are typically the "dust and fannings" from broken tea leaves, which compromises the quality compared to full leaf tea. Tea bags release more tannins than whole leaf tea, resulting in bitter, astringent brews. The shape and size of the bags themselves are also important factors, as most tea bags constrain the tea leaves, preventing them from expanding to their full flavor and aroma potential. Additionally, the bags might be made from materials that can influence the flavor or release compounds when exposed to hot water. Brew a Wonderful Cup of Sencha Use one to two tsp of tea leaves (two to four grams). We recommend you start with one tsp (two grams). Brew with 150-200ml of water at 176F (80C). Brew for one min Brewing Tips Do not use boiling water and do not brew the first cup for more than one minute, as that will result in an over extracted or an unpleasantly bitter tea. Brewing a second cup should be for no more than 30 seconds as the leaves have already opened up.
