Product description What's in our name PORPHOSE is built from two parts. "Porph" from Porphyridium, the red microalga we cultivate. "-ose" is the chemistry suffix used to name a sugar or polysaccharide, as in glucose, fructose, sucrose. Porph-ose: a polysaccharide from Porphyridium. A red microalga from the sea Porphyridium cruentum is a marine microalga that produces a sulfated polysaccharide as part of its natural biology. We grow it in Southern California and use the polysaccharide-rich material as the base of every Porphose product. Porphose family of products Every Porphose product starts with Porphyridium cruentum, a red microalga we grow in Pacific Ocean seawater at our lab in North County San Diego. We are a spin-off of Algae Research and Supply, a Southern California microalgae company founded more than a decade ago. Porphose Eczema Relief is our FDA-registered OTC eczema treatment. Skin Shielding Mist is our daily cosmetic mist for sensitive skin. Offshore Salt Spray is our hair texturizer.
