Isshin Shade-Grown Green Tea Gyokuro, which means “jade dew”— is known as one of Japan’s finest teas. Considered a rare green tea even in Japan. High Caffeine This jade-colored tea is sweeter, less astringent, and especially high in natural caffeine due to it being grown in shade for 20 days before harvest. Premium Gyokuro Japanese Gyokuro green tea has a mellow umami flavor, unique sweetness and and floral aroma. Gyokuro Furikake Recipe Lightly roast and dry the spent leaves by pan-frying. Add salt, sesame seeds, etc to your liking. Sprinkle furikake as seasoning over rice and more! 玉露の淹れ方 How to Brew Gyokuro Shade-Grown Green Tea Step 1 Pour boiling water in a cup or yuzamashi (water cooler) to adjust the water temperature. Recommended water temperature for Gyokuro is 122°F (50°C)-140°F (60°C). Tip: Pouring hot water into a cup will reduce temperature by 10°C (20°F) Step 2 Add one teaspoon of Gyokuro into your teapot to brew 8oz (1 cup) of tea. Step 3 Pour the water into the teapot and steep for 2 minutes. Resteep 2-3 times. Gyokuro is a delicate tea. Brew at low temperatures to avoid bitterness + enhance sweetness.
