Product description WHAT IS HOJICHA ? Hojicha is a roasted Japanese green tea that originated in Kyoto. Our blend of Organic Hojicha Tea includes the carefully selected tea leaves of Sencha, Bancha and Kukicha plants. These tea leaves are traditionally roasted over high heat to bring out the unique aroma, and turns the leaves into a beautiful amber colour. During the Meiji period, there was a tea merchant who tried to experiment to make the most use of leftovers of various parts of the tea plant. The tea merchant roasted the leaves, stems, and twigs by roasting them over charcoal. Since then, Japan began roasting green tea and this resulted in a new business opportunity. People, especially the tea drinkers in that period, loved Hojicha Tea because of its pleasant smoky aroma and mild flavor. TRADITIONAL ROASTING METHOD We carefully selected the tea leaves of Sencha, Bancha and Kukicha cultivars. The process of roasting these tea leaves produces pyrazine, which is what creates the distinctive, pleasant roasting aroma associated with Hojicha Tea. The roasting also reduces the astringency of the tea, leaving you with a smooth taste that is easy to drink. The roasting process does not affect the tea’s health benefits, but instead burns away bitterness and caffeine. It is wonderful to drink after meals or in the evening and it can be safely consumed by babies, children and pregnant women. HOJICHA WITH SEASONAL FRUITS Using 100% natural organic hojicha tea leaves, the flavor & aroma are pure and it accompanies fantastically with various kinds of seasonal fruits, herbs, flowers, and even milk, and honey. EASY TO DRINK FOR ALL PEOPLE Easy-to-drink tea with little to none astringency or bitterness, it can be safely consumed by a wide range of people, from babies to the elderly.
