The Alpha Medical Bilateral Hip Abduction Brace provides both pre-op and post-op relief from many conditions of the hip including arthroplasty, hip dysplasia, hip surgeries, tendinitis, arthritis, and more. The orthosis wraps around the abdomen with a soft comfortable back support that can easily be tightened and loosened with the simple pull of a handy Velcro thumb loop. The range of motion hinge is attached on the right and left side of the back brace with strong Velcro. This attachment system allows for ideal adjustment and positioning. As you move down the hip to the hinge there is a “set” screw on top of the condyle (the center of the hinge where it osculates) that can be loosened to allow adjustment of the flexion and extension of the hinge and therefore the hip joint. The settings range from no movement to full range of the hip joint and 20 angles in between. Below the condyle there is a “set” screw that controls the abduction range of the hip and thigh (see additional images). In addition to adjustable flexion, extension, and abduction the Alpha Medical Hip Abduction Brace can telescope to accommodate patients from 5' to 6.5’ tall.
