- These slices were once PART OF A LIVING TREE FROM MADAGASCAR, alive during the Early Triassic period. As the years passed, the once living material was covered by sediment and yet protected from decay. The tree structure was replaced with various minerals as water flowed through the sediment, and eventually, the tree petrified (which means "turned to stone"). Different minerals produce the variety of colors that you see in the different pieces we offer.
- YOU WILL RECEIVE ONE OF SIMILAR QUALITY TO THOSE PICTURED, and while it is possible to receive one of those shown, it is not likely. These pieces are a medium-large size, mostly between 4 to 5" the longest way. No two pieces are exactly alike; each one is unique.
- DESPITE IMPERFECTIONS acquired through the ravages of time and force, each one is beautiful and unique, but often less than a complete perfect slice. The wood grain details are visible on the face as well as on the sides.
